True intermediate surf coaching is very hard to find but at Surf School Sri Lanka they deliver just that. Tim, the founder, and his team coach those of you who are riding your first unbroken waves to surfers with far more experience.

“My name is Tim and I originally come from Wales in the UK. I’ve been coaching surfing for 35 years and run schools in Lanzarote , Canary Islands and South Sri Lanka. We are based in the Kabalana area of South Sri Lanka and offer surf coaching here to intermediates and those above that level. We opened our school here as we know that in the period of November to the end of April we have the ideal waves for this level of surf coaching.

We use a unique coaching system involving the core skills of understanding balance, technique and equipment with a strong emphasis on how mindfulness can not only improve performance but also basic enjoyment.” Read the rest of the interview…

My Green Trip Local Partners

My Green Trip partners with local organisations in the world because we believe it is with their help and local presence that we, as travelers, can have a concrete and bigger impact. Our local partners are on the ground, they know the reality of the local trash system and they can really contribute to sort and recycle trash when it is possible. Each of our partner has its own way of partnering with My Green Trip. Some of them include clean-ups in their day to day activities, other distribute our clean-up kits, other plan regular clean-ups. It is up to them. Best is to contact them to know if they plan anything when you will be around.

We also invite our travelers to directly book our partners from our website. There is 0% commission from My Green Trip. Our goal is not to be another intermediate between you and local tourism organisations. Our goal is to engage the most of travelers and tourism organisations to pick up trash left behind in nature, together.

The Malika Surf Camp is located on the north coast of Dakar and offers accommodation, surf lessons, guides, boards and material renting. With their friendly staff you’ll enjoy every day of your stay! Meet Marta, the founder.

“Hello everybody, my name is Marta and I’m the creator of the Malika Surf Camp. When I decided to create this surf camp I received the much needed help of some very good friends; somebody offered me a few wetsuits, somebody a board, somebody a leash or a rash vest. And so I started with 7 boards in 2010. Malika Surf Camp is a 100% local surfcamp, we don’t have any main sponsors but you can now count around 90 boards in our shop on the beach front.

Personally, I believe that this is like a circle: if somebody gives me something, I have to give something to somebody else in return. The circle thus continues. So Malika Surf Camp supports local young surfers to live out their dream, same as my friends did with me. If I receive a board, I’ll offer a board. That’s it, simple.  Read the rest of the interview…

Aloha Surf Academy organizes surf classes in Fuerteventura, Spain. After riding the waves they pick up trash on their way back home. The school is managed by Sophie, Alex and Maui (their lovely dog)

“We are a Swiss/German team who have chosen Fuerteventura to set up our family life and share moments with our students coming to surf in our little paradise. We believe in a brighter future and decided to go more green…we have reduced our plastic consumption, and have the project to have a house soon to do permaculture and be self sufficient with food 😉

We are located in the north of the island, in Corralejo. The surf course is a great activity to do with family members, or friends. It is lot of fun and moreover it connects you with the nature and gives you a lot of fresh energy. Our academy is for persons willing to learn surfing in a serious way; our instructor Alex is pedagogue and is glad to share all his knowledges with you. Come to try ; we will take you to stunning beaches and will make sure you have a lot of fun !!!” Read the rest of the interview.

Share the Wave is a non-profit organization based in Huanchaco, focusing on the continuity of the local culture of surfing, the promotion of social and gender equality, especially among young, and the protection of nature. Meet Roxane, one of the founder.

“Share The Wave Association is a non-profit organization that was born from a Swiss-Peruvian collaboration: we (the co-founders, Mateo and Roxane) are from Peru and Switzerland, respectively. We live by, with, and for the ocean. We believe that we can all leave places better than how we first found them and that this applies to close to everything in life, including environmental contamination.

As part of the solution to the international trash issue, we are very enthusiastic about sustainable and plastic-free living and the fact that there are tremendous simple and easy ways to directly and personally take action for a cleaner world. Oh and, last but not least, we love surfing and dogs!” Read the rest of the interview…
