Annapurna, Everest, Upper Mustang … the Himalaya make you dream? Go with Raj, an amazing guide in Nepal who always invites travelers to pick up trash found during his treks. Raj is also one of our Ambassadors
“I think we have a lot of things to change. First of all, our country is not able to take over all the trash we have in Nepal. Of course, this trash come not only from tourists but also from local people. Both have a responsibility. When tourists (local and foreign) travel in the mountains, they buy junk food and bottles. And then, they throw in the rivers and trekking trails. Local people burn these plastics in the mountains. So, all these bad habits are really bad for our climate. So, I think tourists should be extremely careful with what they bring and buy in the mountains.
For my country, I would like a more sustainable tourism. We could use more local food (instead of chips, kit kat, biscuits,..), drink more tea instead of coke, use biodegradable products, use natural water instead of buying water bottles and refuse plastic bags in shops, use hot bags instead of warmers.” Read the rest of the interview…

My Green Trip Local Partners
My Green Trip partners with local organisations in the world because we believe it is with their help and local presence that we, as travelers, can have a concrete and bigger impact. Our local partners are on the ground, they know the reality of the local trash system and they can really contribute to sort and recycle trash when it is possible. Each of our partner has its own way of partnering with My Green Trip. Some of them include clean-ups in their day to day activities, other distribute our clean-up kits, other plan regular clean-ups. It is up to them. Best is to contact them to know if they plan anything when you will be around.
We also invite our travelers to directly book our partners from our website. There is 0% commission from My Green Trip. Our goal is not to be another intermediate between you and local tourism organisations. Our goal is to engage the most of travelers and tourism organisations to pick up trash left behind in nature, together.
